About Us

Originally founded in 1888 and proudly revived in February 2026, the Bitton and Oldland Cycling Club is more than just a sports group based halfway between Bath and Bristol—it is a sanctuary for social cycling. In less than 4 months we’ve built a club of 95 members by transforming the solitary act of riding into a collective, joyous experience designed to boost mental wellbeing and reduce loneliness.
We operate on five core pillars:
• Friendship: We value shared experiences and social connection as the primary goal of every ride.
• The "No-Drop" Policy: We move at an accessible pace, ensuring the group always stays together and every rider feels supported.
• Inclusivity & Accessibility: We welcome all riders regardless of their background, skill level, or the cost of their equipment.
• Safety: We believe in the "strength of numbers" to help everyone feel secure and advocate for infrastructure safe enough for ages 8 to 80.
• Wellbeing: Mental health and community confidence are our "North Star" for all club activities.
